Institutional Perspective Plan

Government General Degree College Chapra is remotely located (28 kms from the main city of Krishnnagar) and is very close to the Indo- Bangladesh border. The area is known for its extensive paddy and jute cultivation. There is only one high school (in Ranabandh area) and a sole primary school (at the village Shikra) where most students, usually first generation learners come to study. Therefore the establishment of the college was undertaken with an ambition of bringing in more students under the aegis of higher education.

Strategic Plan

Curriculum Design and Planning

  1. To revise the curriculum from time to time to enrich students with both merit as well as value based education.
  2. Organize more seminars/Workshops and Conferences for student enrichment and support.
  3. Organize Placement through Campus Interview.
  4. Enrich departmental activities , encourage students to participate in intra and inter- collegiate competitions.
  5. To encourage more student activities inside the campus.
  6. To create more social outreach programs and integrate it as part of the curriculum..
  7. To undertake more student satisfaction survey programs.
  8. To plant more saplings in and around the campus area to promote eco-friendly campus as part of creating environmental awareness among the students.
  9. To discard the use of plastic completely inside the campus and encourage green campus.

Research and Innovation

  1. Encourage Staff Members to do research
  2. Get an ISO Certificate
  3. Installation of more computers to aid in the teaching process.
  4. All the faculty members are advised to obtain Ph.D. degrees in their respective fields.
  5. Inter-disciplinary and socially relevant research activities are encouraged among the faculty members and students.
  6. Faculty members are encouraged to apply for more minor/major research projects Faculty members are encouraged to publish their research articles in UGC approved journals.
  7. Faculty members are encouraged to present papers in international conferences / seminars in foreign universities.
  8. Efforts have been taken to organize International / National Conferences / Seminars / Workshops in all the departments.
  9. All the faculty members are asked to use ICT for effective teaching.
  10. Tlaks about establishment of MOU with the nearby colleges.

Infrastructure

  1. Upgradation of the leased-line internet facility is done to make the entire campus Wi-Fi enabled.
  2. Strengthening the ICT infrastructure facilities by adding more number of computers, LCD projectors, interactive projectors and digital interactive smart boards in all departments have been taken care.
  3. Efforts are taken to construct additional floors with classrooms and laboratory facilities.
  4. Initiatives have been done for constructing additional blocks with sufficient rooms to accommodate more students.
  5. Plan for creating a separate hostel for students who come to study from far flung areas.
  6. Developing e-contents for all subjects is also concentrated by using the expertise of the faculty members of all the departments.
  7. Strengthening the college library by adding more books and journals is done every year.
  8. Upgrade Computer processors and RAM capacity.
  9. Installation of High Speed LAN Network.
  10. Refurbishment of Office computers and other stationery items.
  11. Develop infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning process
  12. Promote sports activities among the students for healthy life by creating a Sports room for the students.

Student Support

  1. A good number of scholarships by the Govt of West Bengal are given to the students to encourage them to pursue higher education.
  2. Capacity development and skill development programmes are arranged from time to time.
  3. Many sports events and tournaments are organized every year.
  4. Efforts are taken to strengthen the college-alumni network for a better growth and development of the college.

Governance Leadership and Management

  1. Teachers are encouraged to attend faculty development programmes.
  2. Participation in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of MHRD, Government of India is also carried out every year.
  3. Internal Academic Audit by IQAC is conducted every year and External Academic and Administrative Audit is done once in every two years.
  4. Efforts have been taken to provide computer literacy to all the students.

Institutional Values and Best Practices

  1. Creating awareness programs in the rural community of Shikra about STD, COVID and many other health related matters.
  2. Spreading awareness about biodiversity protection and conservation, especially regarding snake protection for better ecological growth.
  3. Identifying students of poor and backward communities and helping them to pursue studies.
  4. Conducting Blood Donation camp each year.
  5. Promotion of Green campus, establishment of solar panels and Butterfly garden in the campus
